Background: The B-2 Spirit, also known as the Stealth Bomber, is a heavy strategic bomber of the United States, employing low observable stealth technology to penetrate dense anti-aircraft defenses. This aircraft, a subsonic flying wing, accommodates a crew of two and was designed by Northrop, with production spanning from 1987 to 2000. The bomber is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear weapons, such as 80 Mk 82 JDAM GPS-guided bombs weighing 500 pounds (230 kilograms) each, or 16 B83 nuclear bombs weighing 2,400 pounds (1,100 kilograms) each. The B-2 is the only known operational aircraft capable of carrying large standoff weapons in a stealth configuration.
